The Old Days
Few people realize that the Otsego County Abstract & Title Company (formerly known as Otsego County Abstract Company) had its origins tracing back to 1881, when original abstract books were set up by Louie Widdican for Cooper and Crane, local attorney and banker in the years 1881 to 1884. Nic C. Enders purchased the records on January 1, 1939, and Mrs. Lindendoll managed the office until Mr. Enders moved here with his family in June of 1944. On February 22, 1954, he moved his office from the second floor of the old Post Office building to 124 E. Main Street. The Otsego County Abstract Company was the first company to sell title insurance in the state of Michigan outside of the Detroit area.
